Psalm 113: Psalm of the Week. #lapotw

Psalm 113 – Praise the LORD!

Praise the LORD!
Praise, O servants of the LORD,
Praise the name of the LORD!
Blessed be the name of the LORD
From this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its going down
The LORD’s name is to be praised.

The LORD is high above all nations,
His glory above the heavens.
Who is like the LORD our God,
Who dwells on high,
Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?

He raises the poor out of the dust,
And lifts the needy out of the ash heap,
That He may seat him with princes—
With the princes of His people.
He grants the barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children.
Praise the LORD!

A never-ending continuum of praise, this is our call. The calling of all creation. Psalm 113 is the song of the soul, have you ever experienced waking up with a song of praise bursting from your mouth, an overspill of blessings spoken from your soul?
When we purposefully enter the presence of God to praise Him, it is an entire devotion rooted in our souls. Well it should be, and Psalm 113 is one of these short, almost abstract psalms, which once you devote time to meditating upon its verses reveals so much.

Ps 113:1-4, There is no other name nor will there ever be a need to call the Most High God by any other name. Have you heard when someone speaks with conviction that you know the words have come from a place of great depth? As we praise Him with our mouth, bless Him in our heart. The same applies to our service, not what we volunteer in church; our life is a service of praise to the LORD. But don’t worry, if you haven’t dedicated your life as service, verse 3 tells us that ‘from this time forth…’ so at any time you are ready it will be forevermore, yes even after death. And because you will have entered this praise from the depth of your soul, the Holy Spirit will work in you to make it happen.

Ps 113:6 is such a beautiful truth, to know that God the Most High will avail Himself to us. Personally, observing how we are doing. If we truly lived our lives with this understanding, perhaps we would be less prone to temptations and worry.

Many of us are living testimonies of verses 7-9. When God raises you up it isn’t about what He enables or brings into your life but the transformation and renewal of your mind and soul. Your self-esteem changes once you have risen to claim your inheritance. God’s princes and royal kingdom isn’t about riches and wealth. It is great spirituality and gracious attainment – righteousness.

The wonderful thing about God’s royal kingdom is that you don’t have to wait in line for someone to die or in vain to claim your succession. Jesus Christ died for us so we may Praise the LORD! – Hallelujah!

This is our call, Ps. 113
