Maintaining Consistent Ministerial Progress Towards Heaven by Dr. W.F. Kumuyi

Introduction: Ministers may have the evil heart of unbelief. That is why ministers need to be talking to one another, lest we have the hardness of heart and miss what God has given to us through unbelief.

Some others have missed it, but hold fast your conviction, your consecration. Heb 4; :11, 5:11, 12.

Heb 6:1 What are the first principles ?
Repentance, baptism.

Practice makes perfect. God wants us to grow.

Heb 4:13 .

Hebrews 6:7 -12

Hebrews 10:35-36 – don’t cast away your confidence which has great recompense of reward.
v. 39 – But I am not of them who draw back.

Your mind cannot think of two things at the same time. That’s why we need to remove everything that is stopping you from receiving the word of God.

Hebrews 12:1

1. Personal consecration to abide with the living God.
2. Purposeful commitment while admonishing the laity in godliness.
3. Persevering courage with absolute attachment to the liberating gospel.

1. Personal consecration to abide with the living God.

Heb 3:12
The heart is the real essential thing. To get saved, you believe with your heart that Christ raised Jesus from the dead. And so for sanctification, Holy Ghost baptism.

If the heart is the heart of faith, you get what you ought to get, but if the heart is that of unbelief, you won’t receive from the Lord.

Deut 4:8-9, 23, 24; Deut. 12:30

Take heed to yourself so that the word of God you hear will bear fruit.

You have come to know the truth, you will abide in the word of God.

If we are going to do God’s word, what will it take?

Heb 11:24 – Moses had the opportunity of being promoted in the word, but he said no to it. IF you are going to serve the Lord, there are things coming from your family, village, tribe, political class that you have to say no to, especially if that will conflict with the call of God upon your life.

Moses chose to suffer for the Lord. Moses knew that if he followed his calling, suffering would come. I pray that the Lord will give you backbone to take a stand against suffering or persecution (v. 25).

If you are going to fulfil your ministry, you must have this mind, that the fear of men, or kings, will not make you compromise the call of God upon your life in Jesus name.

If Moses could, then you are able.

Fear makes people not to be strong. Today you are preaching sound doctrine, and tomorrow you are not speaking sound doctrine.

By faith he endured.

The time we are living in is a time of compromise, but you will be among those who stand.

Matthew 24:4-13. – Take heed that your eternal destiny is not in the hand of any man.

Don’t be afraid of the people you were supposed to restore, else you are not going to have any ministry. Rise up in the arms of faith and courage of heart.

Acts 20:20 – Paul kept back nothing that was useful to them.

When you meet sinners, emphasise repentance and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

v. 24 – None of the persecutions he faced moved him.

God will give you the boldness to do what the Lord has called you to do in Jesus name.

2. Purposeful commitment while admonishing the laity in godliness. Heb 3:!3

Exhort one another daily. When was the last time a fellow minister speak to you and said, “Brother, this needs to be corrected in your life”.

Acts 11:23 – With purpose of heart cling to the Lord. Don’t lower your standard, keep it high. In your personal life let there be self-denial, prayer.

Acts 14:21-22 _ They exhorted them to continue. Daily we must exhort one another. When danger stares you in the faith, don’t turn back.

1 Thess. 2:3-13 – Let’s be truthful in our exhortation.

Jude 1:3 – Exhort one another daily.

If the pastor or members are not doing right, go and exhort them. If you see the standard going down in any area, take it to them, so that the church will come back to the level if is supposed to be.

Your Father’s work is your concern. Never think, It’s not your concern. If you are in your house and you see a particular room is dirty and because your room is clean you think it is not your concern. It is your concern! You can do something about that.

Hebrews 3:13 –

Deceitfulness of sin and hardness of heart, what do they do?
Matthew 19:4

Pray for God to change our hardened hearts in Jesus name.

Hebrews 3:13-19

Your heart may tell you that it is a small thing. That there is no judgement, that God is merciful. That you should be free. But you must be careful knowing that tje heart is deceitful and desperately wicked. Jer 17:9; Mark 4:18

2 Cor 11:13, the deceitfulness could come through false prophets and false teachers.

3. Persevering courage with absolute attachment to the liberating gospel

The liberating gospel frees our hearts.
To preach the word we must have courage and conviction.

We are going to be strong and courageous and will hold on to the word of the Lord in Jesus name.

Heb 3:14; 10:23 Hold fast to your conviction. Don’t hold the word of God with a loose hand. Don’t gamble with the word of God. Hold it fast, it’s the most important thing you will ever have.

Mark 13:12 – There’ll be no respect for elderly people, or faithful fellowship or friendship between people.

2 Timothy 1:13 – Tell them the important thing – They have to repent and turn away from their sins. That they should walk earnestly and perfectly before the Lord.

Repentance is the good thing, salvation, sanctification as a definite work of grace, Holy Ghost baptism is a good thing, the practical teaching of the word of God is a good thing. Let us keep that word in Jesus name.

Titus 1:7 – A pastor must be blameless. A leader in the church must be blameless. He must hold FAST the faithful word as he has been taught.

Revelation 2:13 – We will hold fast to the word of the Lord in Jesus name.

We must hold fast until God comes.

2 Peter 3:10 – 18

We must be diligent so that we will be found of him without spot or wrinkle.
We’ll grow in grace and righteousness and commitment in Jesus name.

Hebrews 3:12 – There must be personal consecration. There is purposeful commitment (v. 13), and persevering courage (v. 14).

God will give us that courage in Jesus name.

May the grace of God be abundantly given to us so that we continue consistently until we get to heaven in Jesus name.

Prayer Time:

Take the word of the Lord back to Him and say, Here I am and I will continue consistently until the end in Jesus name.
