#LAJoshua Devotional Day 9 ‘TAKE OVER’

Take Over

The hill country will be yours. Even though it is a forest, you will clear it and take possession of it from one end to the other. As for the Canaanites, you will drive them out, even though they do have iron chariots and are a strong people. Joshua 17:18 GNB

Since God had promised the Israelites a land flowing with milk and honey, one would have thought that the Israelites were to simply walk into the land, build houses and prosper. But from our study of Joshua, it is apparent that the promised land was fortified territory and Israel had to fight wars to claim it.

The multitude of promises in the bible does not imply that it will always come to us on a platter of gold. Yes, some will but in certain cases we will face contention. The key to winning in the face of adversity is to adopt any strategy that will be given by the Holy Spirit.

Joshua followed God’s guidance and we see him victorious in the wars fought. When faced with challenges and contention, we must form a response based on God’s instruction. As we exercise spiritual authority over our environment (home, office, nation), we know that victory is ours in Christ Jesus.

Prayer Focus
Dear Lord, I take hold of every spiritual and material blessing you have given me. I exercise spiritual dominion over my environment. No weapon formed against me shall prosper, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
