#LAGenesis Devotional Day 25

Let it go!

Revenge is overrated. Is there really any point to avenging ourselves on those who have offended us or prove to them that we are above their malicious intent?
One thing we can take from Joseph is that throughout his story, none of it was about proving to his brother’s that they were wrong in their actions or was he determined to prove God’s revelation and rub his success in their faces.

It does not matter who has done what or why when you are rooted in God. When you are submitting yourself to God it breeds strength of character and spirit. It removes our ego and elevates humility. Humility is the absence of pride and it enables us to see God at work in all and every situation. Therefore, the evil intentions of others do not and should not affect us, if we see that as Jeremiah 29:11 affirms ‘I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.’ (MSG)

Check the source of your desire for success in life. If it’s based on elevating your family name from its miry past, or bringing infamy to your town/village or on challenging anyone who labelled you a failure, then seek God to change your desires to His will.

The only one to whom we need to prove ourselves is God.

Prayer focus:
Lord, make me a channel of your peace. If there is any pride in me that influences my desires I ask you to work it out of me that I may be free to live according to Your will, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
