#LACorinthians Devotional Day 17 by Stephanie Okunola (@Buqolar)

Comfidence in Christ

One beautiful thing about the Christian walk is the confidence we have when we talk about Jesus. We have a Father that will never leave us stranded. After all, He is not a man that He should lie. Throughout the scriptures, we find God’s promises and His wonderful ways of bringing them to pass.

He promised Abraham Isaac, He delivered.

He promised Hannah Samuel, He delivered and so on.

If events in the bible seem far-fetched, please take a good look around you. There is always a reason to believe. Paul and Timothy wrote to the Corinthian Church, recounting all the things they had gone through: they had no strength at all but chose to trust God. He delivered them. If He has done it before, He can do it again.

‘MANY are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord will deliver him out of them ALL.’ Psalm 34:19

Hebrews 12:1 talks about a great cloud of witnesses cheering us on. No matter how dire your present situation, someone somewhere has gone through worse.

I particularly love the tenses used in today’s scripture: ‘Delivered’ i.e. He has done it before, ‘Deliver’ i.e. He is able to deliver us even now and ‘He will still deliver’ i.e. No matter what lies in the future, with Him we can face it.

All we need is total, unwavering faith in God. To do this alone is not difficult, but impossible. We must shift beyond ourselves and our abilities and fix our gaze on Christ. He can do all things!

‘He who did not spare His own son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with him also freely give us ALL THINGS? Romans 8:32

Prayer Focus
Thank You Lord for the grace to trust in You. Help me to trust You no matter what comes my way, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
