#La187: What Olu Seun Wrote.

Again, from our Whatsapp family, Olu Seun penned down these lines.

Psalms 85:4, 8 NLT

Now restore us again, O God of our salvation. Put aside your anger against us once more. I listen carefully to what God the L ord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways.

After God has welcomed you back home,  O prodigal one, don’t abuse the grace and return to sin.

2 Kings 24 – 1 Chronicles 2

Chapter 24

2 Kings 24:17 NLT

Then the king of Babylon installed Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, as the next king, and he changed Mattaniah’s name to Zedekiah.

Daniel 1:7 NLT

The chief of staff renamed them with these Babylonian names: Daniel was called Belteshazzar. Hananiah was called Shadrach. Mishael was called Meshach. Azariah was called Abednego.

I was curious as to why they kept renaming them. I found the answer in Daniel 4:8, they were being renamed after Babylonian moi-moi gods. Oge has taught us new vocab.

Daniel 4:8 NLT

At last Daniel came in before me, and I told him the dream. (He was named Belteshazzar after my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)

2 Kings 25

It was painful to read verse 9.

II Kings 25:9 NKJV

He burned the house of the Lord  and the king’s house; all the houses of Jerusalem, that is, all the houses of the great, he burned with fire.

Was King Jehoiachin a sellout or did he find favor?

2 Kings 25:27-30 ESV

And in the thirty-seventh year of the exile of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the year that he began to reign, graciously freed Jehoiachin king of Judah from prison. And he spoke kindly to him and gave him a seat above the seats of the kings who were with him in Babylon. So Jehoiachin put off his prison garments. And every day of his life he dined regularly at the king’s table, and for his allowance, a regular allowance was given him by the king, according to his daily needs, as long as he lived.

What sort of name is Evil-Merodach though?

I don’t know about you guys but I had to use the audio Bible to get through 1&2 Chronicles.

The bad guys (Philistines and Canaanites) came from Ham. The good guys (Abraham and Co.) came from Shem.

Both descendants of Noah.
