LA Course Welcome Pack

April 2015 Dear Participant,   We gladly extend our hands to hoist you up to this incredibly new view into leadership. This is the first in a series of Leadership programs God has laid in our heart to organise for aspiring servants to deepen their roots in spiritual leadership.   What to expect… The program will begin on Saturday 2 May 2015 and consists of 8 lessons (please see the time-table below). As earlier mentioned in our publicity, the program is entirely virtual. Each lesson will be sent in the morning via email and will meet, via Whatsapp, at 8pm (WAT) to discuss the points that arise from the lesson. These discussions enable you to ask questions for further clarification but more importantly, these discussions help us to learn from each others wealth of knowledge and experience in our various walks of faith. Please ensure that we have the correct mobile number for whatsapp.   We strongly believe in the power of fellowship beyond four walls, and we hope that our interactions with fellow leaders, and aspiring leaders, will sharpen the rough edges of our lives and leadership.   What we ask of you… We always encourage our leaders to Fast and Pray at least once a week, as a way of humbling the flesh and drawing spiritual strength from God and His Word. Our core LA Family Co-ordinators set aside Wednesday as their day of Prayer and Fasting. If you do not already have a day you have set aside to actively seek God’s will for your life and leadership, we encourage you to adopt Wednesday and join us, at least for the duration of the leadership program. Tune into Wii FM! (What’s in it For Me!) “Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 This course may be the one time in ministry where you are required to put yourself at the centre. Your desire to lead, or seek further direction from God on His purpose and will for you in the body of Christ, is an indication that God’s timing is at hand.   Therefore we ask that before you enter the program you will set expectations for yourself. For example: How do you want God to change your life and transform your leadership?   At each point, whether whilst praying or participating in our group discussions, we recommend that you have a fresh notebook to record the things God will be ministering to you. This will become very useful to you when you complete the program and reflect and review if your post-program goals are still the same.   Final word Please note that our leadership program is FREE and is not a ministry qualified course, however it will be certified. The certificate is to remind you of your commitment to Christ and His people. We have also attached a special word from Dave Williams whose book, ‘The Art Of Pacesetting Leadership, inspired us to develop this program. Please find time to read it God bless you, and we pray that you experience greater conviction in God’s call to you through this leadership experience.   The LA Family Admin.   Please Note: For any enquiries feel free to contact us via WhatsApp or email and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.   Foundation Leadership Program Timetable

Now, you have a desire to reach out and lead others into a fruitful relationship with God. That’s terrific! WELCOME TO THE EXCITING WORLD OF CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP. Your desire to reach out to lead others is an indication of growth in faith – from babyhood to adulthood. Look at what the writer to the Hebrews had to say about it: For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. – Hebrews 5:12-14 St. Paul, in his letter to Timothy, encouraged leadership. This is what he said about a person’s desire to lead others: This is a true saying, if a man desires the office of a bishop, he desires a good work.” – 1 Timothy 3:1 Paul showed us that it is not wrong to have a desire to lead others. In these scriptures, he urges others to follow him, even as he followed Christ: Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. – 1 Corinthians 4:16 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. – 1 Corinthians 11:1 Don’t let Satan cheat you out of your ministry with the false idea that having a desire to be a leader is selfish ambition. For years I struggled with this problem. I wanted to know that my desire for ministry was genuine: born out of a desire to serve Christ and His people, not self-manufactured. When the Lord showed me this Scripture, I knew what the difference was between selfish and unselfish leadership.     Delight yourself in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart.“ – Psalms 37:4 This is the key, if you have made Jesus Christ the delight of your life then the desire on your heart to be a Christian leader is not self-seeking, it comes from God. If your desire is to please Jesus, He will make you a leader as a natural overflow of your walk with Him. Fantastic that you have made the decision to be a Christian leader! This program is designed as a step by step guide to help you accomplish your goal. Are you ready? Let’s get started. Dave Williams Author, The Art of Pacesetting Leadership
