Victory At Last
Judges 20

Text: And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days,) saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And the Lord said, Go up; for to morrow I will deliver them into thine hand. Judges 20:28

Learn and Apply: The children of Israel had gathered as one man to extinguish evil from the land. The tribe of Benjamin were protecting sin and were unwilling to give up the evil men who had done the evil to the Levite’s concubine (Judges 20: 13-14). Therefore, Israel had to fight their brother Benjamin. Sin will not give up easily without a fight; wickedness will not make way for you without a struggle. Indeed we have the victory in Christ, but that does not absolve us from battle. Jesus has already won the victory for us, but we must fight the good fight of faith.

The fight was fierce; 400,000 fighting men of Israel facing 26,700 fighting men of Benjamin, yet Israel had many casualties the first and second days of the battle, even after obtaining God’s approval for the battle. How could that be! Thankfully, Israel did not give up, they regrouped, fasted and prayed and went again the third day. And on the third day, God gave them victory over Benjamin. Sin was defeated.

May God help us to keep fighting until every thing that is not the will of God is removed from our lives. For in Christ we have the victory! We are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us and gave himself for us (Romans 8:37)!

Pray: Thank you Father for the victory we have in Christ. Help us never to give up fighting the good fight, until we lay hold on eternal life in Jesus name.
