Ichabod – Where is the glory?
1 Samuel 4

Text: And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. 1 Samuel 4:21

Learn and Apply: The glory of God is the manifest presence of God in a believer. Life is always full of many troubles, but the glory of God always makes us victorious and overcomes. The glory of the Lord empowers us, and gives us a reason for living. And where the glory of God is not, what more can we expect, but sadness, fear, failure, and weakness.

On hearing that the ark of God was gone, Phineas’ wife found no more reason to live. She could not even be consoled by the birth of her son. All she could focus on was the departed glory.

Is the glory of God still with you? Or has it departed from your life, family or nation. Pray fervently today for God to restore his glory in your life, so that you can enjoy the peace and power that follows his glory.

May the glory of God never depart from our lives in Jesus name.

Pray: Father, thank you for your love and faithfulness towards us. Forgive us in anyway we have sinned and caused your glory to depart from us. We pray that your glory will overshadow us, in Jesus name!
